Nestled between the Lake District fells and the Pennines in Cumbria, the beautiful Eden district is often described as the hidden gem of our county. Refill Eden began in our district’s largest town, Penrith, in late 2017 and is spreading out across the area, from Appleby to Alston.
Eden is much-loved by walkers, cyclists and water sports enthusiasts enjoying our rivers and lakes, so the Refill scheme is the perfect way for our visitors and local people to get refreshed without resorting to disposable bottles of water.
Refill Eden is run by the volunteer group Penrith Action for Community Transition (PACT), with support from Cumbria County Council and our local Surfers Against Sewage team. It’s part of our wider efforts to cut down on single-use plastics and litter in Eden.
