Reducing single-plastic use and promoting sustainability is a priority for Breckland Council as part of its wider sustainability strategy to achieve NetZero by 2035– this strategy includes increasing the number of electric vehicle charging points across the district, protecting and increasing tree canopy, reducing the impact of the council’s buildings and employees on emissions levels and empowering our communities to take action for themselves.

Sustainable Swaffham

Breckland Council is supporting the expansion of a Refill scheme in Swaffham by promoting it to local businesses and residents. It launched the scheme by providing free reusable metal water bottles that businesses could give away to people using the scheme. The Refill Scheme in Swaffham has been set up as part of a wider project called Sustainable Swaffham that aims to make Swaffham a more sustainable town.

Visitors and residents can use the Refill scheme by looking out for businesses in Swaffham that are displaying a Refill sticker, or by downloading the Refill app. Businesses who are interested in participating in the scheme can sign up directly through the app, or contact us by email at [email protected].
