Refill North East
Northumbrian Water is taking the fight to reduce plastic waste across the north east of
England in partnership with City to Sea and its Refill campaign. The company is encouraging
as many business owners as possible to sign up to become a Refill station so that members
of the public can top up their refillable water bottles.
Launching in the beautiful and historic city of Durham and its surrounding area in December
2017, the Refill aims to promote free tap water Refill stations in cafes, bars and restaurants.
The campaign extended to the rest of the north east in early 2018.
Northumbrian Water’s CEO, Heidi Mottram, said: “As an ethical company, we really support
this campaign, which not only encourages people to drink our clean, clear and great tasting
water, it will also help reduce the amount of plastic waste. If you’ve been watching BBC’s
Blue Planet, you’ll know this has some devastating effects on our oceans and marine life.”
If you are a business and would like to sign up, or if you are a local individual who’d like to help us grow Refill in the North East, please contact Louise by email at [email protected] and your business will be added to the Refill app and you will be sent a sticker to display in your window.
